The 5th of September is marked as the International Day of Charity.
This day is to celebrate the power of giving and encourage charities and their supporters to continue working together to make the world a better place. Donating money is not simply a ‘gift’ or a transaction, it is an act of love, solidarity and a way to remind ourselves that we have power to do good.
KHT’s work over the years has helped over 51,000 people access cleaner water and ensure they are not struggling with water poverty. We have helped over 19,000 people improve incomes and food security, as well as saving thousands of trees from being felled and the natural habitat being protected for flora and fauna.
Our education programme as ensured access to education for thousands of children and access to higher education for hundreds of Karen youth. This is a positive and real investment in the future of the Karen and empowers the younger generation to look beyond the obstacles they face.
None of this is possible without your generosity and compassion. Every penny you give enables us to work with Karen communities and make bring real change to marginalised and poverty stricken Karen people. KHT is a small charity working in poorly understood corner of the world, and having donors who care about the issues we address is invaluable.
Giving today will have a very real impact on the life of a Karen person. You can help ensure improved health, access to education, better livelihoods but also bring relief, improve the quality of life for families and ease burdens.
We hope you will take today as a reminder to reaffirm your commitment to doing good in the world and recognising the power you hold. Every time you give, you bring ease into the lives of some of the world’s most forgotten people.
